A Little Bit About Jack’s Abby

“Founded in 2011 by three brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler, Jack’s Abby has become a mainstay of the craft brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide.” (jacksabby.com) In this blog post, we’ll share some interesting facts about this New England based brewery … as well as release details for what’s on tap for the 4/20/17 Get Hammered tasting event at the Celtic!

About The Brewery
Jack’s Abby is located in Framingham, MA … and according to Trip Advisor, visiting this brewery is the number one thing to do while you’re in town!

It’s no wonder why. Since opening back in 2011, the brewery has tripled in size and continues to grow. Today, their 67,000 square foot space on Clinton Street features state-of-the-art equipment (including a canning line), a 5,000 square foot tasting room, and a kitchen that serves up wood-fired pizzas that pair superbly with any pint you’re drinking!

The folks who make it all happen here are a self-described motley crew “with lab-techs who also bartend, brewing assistants who drive forklifts - talented individuals who do everything that needs to be done for Jack’s Abby to do what it does best—brew lagers.” (jacksabby.com)

The Lagers
Jack’s Abby brews LAGERS. Only LAGERS. Why?

“We want to bring lager back - with quality, locally sourced ingredients and mindful brewing practices - we want to make lagers the beer lover’s first choice once again.” (jacksabby.com)

Offering a core selection of all-the-time staples, as well as an exciting variety of seasonals, specialties, and rotating styles, there is never a shortage of Jack’s Abby lagers. Their flagship: the Hoponius Union. This style “combines cold fermentation and extended lagering times with a bold west coast hop profile to create a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma with a dry, crisp finish.” (jacksabby.com

Mass Rising IPL
In the spirit of our local history we are revolting against the status quo. We are writing our own story by fueling the fire surrounding extra hoppy beers. We infuse Mass Rising with increasing amounts of American hops during the kettle, hopbock and dry hopping processes. Together, we have taken a journey to redefine the term ‘lager.’

Hurts Like Helles Maibock
Maibock/Helles Bock is deep golden in color with an intense malty almost grape like aroma and flavor. A light noble hop character balances the smooth sweet finish. A long lagering time makes this beer exceptionally drinkable for its strength. Don’t be fooled by its light color.
